The Tour de Fat bicycle festival will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Yards Park!
The Tour de Fat is the biggest, craziest and most fabulous party in the DC region celebrating bicycling and good times. Tour de Fat is a FREE bicycle festival that raises a lot of support for WABA and other bicycle advocacy focused non-profits in the region. The festival is hosted and sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Company.
You can find more info about the event on New Belgium’s DC Tour de Fat page. You will be able to “RSVP” for the event on Facebook soon – stay tuned for an official Facebook event. And if you are excited about joining in for the parade-style bike ride and kicking off the festival with hundreds of your closest bike friends, you will be able to pre-register for the ride and pick up some cool Tour de Fat swag soon.
About the Tour de Fat:
Where: Yards Park at 355 Water St SE, Washington, DC
When: Saturday, May 21st. Kick-off bike ride departs at 11am. Festival starts at 12:00pm Noon and goes until 5pm.
Who: All ages. Tour de Fat is a family friendly festival.
Cost: FREE (beers will be for sale for $5 each)
Getting there: There will be a huge free bike valet onsite (first come first served for valet parking)! Yards Park is a short walk from the Navy Yard Metro Station. Plan to bike or take public transit as there is very limited nearby parking – there a few pay-t0-park surface lots close by.

New Belgium brews will be for sale during the event to raise funds for the benefiting bicycle non-profits. 100% of the proceeds from the parade and beer sales go right back to WABA and the four other regional bike non-profits. Each year, the Tour de Fat features free entertainment and an awesome headliner, wacky bicycle games and activities, bike themed contests, and of course tons of good craft beer.
Stay tuned for an announcement about this year’s schedule, headliner, and more fun Tour de Fat activities.
Volunteers needed! Stay tuned for an announcement about volunteers (volunteers get two free beers!) in March. WABA recruits more than 200 volunteers to help make the Tour de Fat a success, so we need your hep.
And this year’s Tour de Fat is extra special because it’s part of The Really Big Bike Weekend!
If you’ve been you keeping an eye on your calendar, you may have noticed a certain convergence, maybe some sort of gravitational clustering around a few days in late May? Well there’s a reason for that. Friday, May 20th is Bike to Work Day! Saturday, May 21st is of course the Tour de Fat! And Sunday, May 22nd is the DC Bike Ride, of which WABA is the main non-profit beneficiary. Come spend The Really Big Bicycle Weekend with us!
