Tour de Fat

Tdf Jenga Promo

The Tour de Fat bicycle festival will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Yards Park!

The Tour de Fat is the biggest, craziest and most fabulous party in the DC region celebrating bicycling and good times. Tour de Fat is a FREE bicycle festival that raises a lot of support for WABA and other bicycle advocacy focused non-profits in the region. The festival is hosted and sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Company.

RSVP for the Tour de Fat on Facebook and invite all your friends.

You can find more info about the event on New Belgium’s DC Tour de Fat page. And if you are excited about joining in for the parade-style bike ride and kicking off the festival with hundreds of your closest bike friends, you can pre-register for the ride and pick up some cool Tour de Fat swag here. Also, consider signing up to volunteer!

New Belgium brews will be for sale during the event to raise funds for the benefiting bicycle non-profits. 100% of the proceeds from the parade and beer sales go right back to WABA and the four other regional bike non-profits. Each year, the Tour de Fat features free entertainment and an awesome headliner, wacky bicycle games and activities, bike themed contests, and of course tons of good craft beer.

Want to win $2,250 for a new bicycle?!

Become a car traitor, apply to be the 2016 DC Tour de Fat Bike Trader! Read on to find out how:

In every Tour de Fat city, one brave role model will step on stage to trade in his or her car keys and pledge to live car free for one year. Each swapper is awarded a $2,250 stipend to buy their own commuter bike and receives rock star status when the crowd goes wild in support of their commitment. Car for Bike Swappers are chosen after submitting an application describing why they are ready to give up their vehicle for the gift of two wheels.

To apply: Potential swappers must post a 2 minute video submission (it should address why you want to go car-free and commit to biking full-time) to the New Belgium Facebook Page and your city’s Tour de Fat event page. After the winning applicant is chosen they will get to build their perfect car replacement bike with the shop of their choosing. New Belgium will award the swapper $2,250 total to spend on a bike and accessories. In exchange the trader commits to being car free for at least one year and to share their experience along the way. Vehicles for Charity will auction the cars, with proceeds benefiting local cycling organizations.

Videos must be submitted by the Wednesday before your city’s Tour de Fat. For questions, please email

It’s part of The Really Big Bike Weekend:
