Bike Co-ops

Bike House

Washington, DC

The Bike House is a community-based bicycle repair co-op in Washington DC.  Our mission is to build a place where all people can learn about, work on, and enjoy bikes. http://www.thebikehouse.org/

Mt. Rainer Co-op

Mt Rainer, Maryland

Mt. Rainer Co-op aims to enable residents of Mt Rainier and the surrounding area to own, maintain, and ride bicycles affordably.  They reclaim, refurbish, and redistribute used bicycles that would otherwise be heading for the landfill, teach bike repair to youth and adults, and partner with local organizations to promote an inclusive and responsible bicycling community. While the MRBC focuses its services on the residents of Mount Rainier, the shop and its programs are open to all on a donation basis. http://www.mrbikecoop.com/

Phoenix Bikes

Arlington, VA

This youth and community bike shop serves folks in and around South Arlington, VA. Located in Barcroft Park, along the 4 Mile Run and W&OD bike trails, they work with young people in the community, building bikes and building leaders. In addition to participating in their Earn-A-Bike Program and other Phoenix Team activities, their young mechanics join staff and volunteers in serving Arlington's biking community. They do tune-ups and repairs at low cost to area cyclists, and sell quality used bikes fit for the whole family. http://www.phoenixbikes.org/

VeloCity

Their mission is to encourage a vibrant and inclusive cycling community by providing a non-profit, volunteer operated, do-it-yourself workshop for building and maintaining bicycles along with training, rides, and events to empower interaction, skills, fun, and freedom. http://velocitycoop.org
