Moon Light Ride

Join WABA, the Capitol Riverfront BID, and Forest City as we celebrate the full moon and the opening of the brand new Yards Park! The Yards Park is a beautiful new park along the SE Waterfront close to Nationals Stadium and is a great location for the start/finish of our bike rides and fun before hand!

The fun will begin as WABA watches as the Washington Nationals take on the Houston Astros at 4:35pm. Tickets for this game are available now through WABA's online registration! And don't forget- the Nationals offer free bike valet parking! Following the game, we will walk over to the Yards Park where there will be food trucks if you're hungry, community groups and bike shops to talk shop with and more.

Beginning at 7:30pm, riders can check-in with WABA or register on-site for one of our two rides. At 8:30pm, WABA will lead an 11-mile ride leaving the Yards Park heading west along the Potomac River taking in sights along the way including Hains Point, the Lincoln Memorial, and National Mall. There will be a turn-around point for those wishing to make their ride shorter.

Registration

Registration is now closed. On-site registration will be available at 7pm at The Yards Park. Please Remember a helmet and front & rear lights are required to participate.

 

Riders will be able to register for the event online in advance or the night of the event. This ride is FREE and open to the public, but we ask that you register in advance so we know how many people to expect.

Since this ride is taking place at night, you are able to purchase a Knog Frog Twin Pack that will be ready for you at the start of the ride. Check out the Knog Frog here>>

Watch the Nationals with WABA! We have tickets available for the 4:35pm Nationals game vs. Houston Astros. Please purchase the tickets with WABA so we can ensure seats together. We will meet outside the bike valet area at Nationals Park before the game begins to distribute tickets.

  • $10 Ride Registration + Nationals Ticket
  • $15 Ride Registration + Knog Frog Twin Light Set
  • $25 Ride Registration + Individual WABA membership
  • $40 Ride Registration + Knog Frog Twin Light Set + Individual WABA membership

 Participants are able to register the night of the event at the start location.

About the Ride

What to Expect

  • About an 11-mile bike ride from the Yards Park along the Potomac River east towards the Lincoln Memorial. We'll then turn around riding across the Mall and back to the Yards Park.
  • Although it will be dark visibilty should be fine as along as everyone is equipped with an adequate front white light. More riders on the trail with lights = better visibility.
  • Fun!

Bring a Bicycle Helmet!

As with all WABA rides, a bicycle helmet is required to participate.

Bike Lights

As required by DC Law, all cyclists must have a front white light and rear red reflector when biking at night. If you do not have a light set, consider purchasing one through the Knog set registration option.

Food and Water

  • Be sure to bring water for the ride
  • There will be food trucks at the Yards Park before the rides depart for anyone who is hungry.
