Independence Day Bike Valet

Straight to the fireworks- enjoy the celebration by bike!

Forget fighting for parking, traffic jams, and crowded metros at the 2009 Independence Day Celebration ! RIDE YOUR BIKE and park it safely at WABA's FREE bike valet! Just drop off your bike and pick it up whenever you're ready to leave. Your bike will be safe and secure, and you will enjoy the freedom of your own transportation!

*East Potomac Park/Hains Point is closed to all pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic until Thursday, July 2, 2009 in an effort to accomodate NPS' logistics and setup for the upcoming celebrations. Press release here>>

Volunteers Needed!
Not only will you be helping to promote cycling as a viable form of transportation, but you will get a great view of the best fireworks display in the country!  Please contact volunteer@waba.org or call 202-518-0524 to sign up or for more info.

How to Get There By Bike
Check out our area maps, and find a safe route to the National Mall.  For a map of the bike valet location, other bike parking areas on the mall, and bike-friendly mall routes click here.  Due to heavy use, Metro will not be allowing bikes on the Metrorail. However, your bike can still ride for free on DC Metro Busses.

Be Safe!
Wear a helmet and check out WABA's Rules of the Road information before you ride.

Don't Forget

Certain items are prohibited at the 2009 Independence Day Celebration. This includes personal fireworks, alcoholic beverages, glass bottles, grills, weapons, and knives. Free National Parks Service Bike Tours

Join National Park Service rangers every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. for FREE guided bike tours of the Nation’s Capital. The tour season begins Saturday March 28 and concludes Sunday November 29, 2009.  All tours begin at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Learn More>>
