Course Calendar

Want to use your bike to get where you need to go? Learn to safely share the road with cars, other bikes, and pedestrians. Most of these classes are currently sponsored by city Departments of Transportation and are provided free of charge (except for Learn to Ride). All classes are taught by League of American Bicyclist Cycling Instructors (LCI). Learn More

Adult Bicyclist Education

WABA's adult bicyclist education opportunities are avaiable for a wide range of skill sets from beginner to advanced throughout the Washington region. Begginner classes start from the ground up with learn to ride classes and increase through bicycle commuting and continue onto more advanced topics. There are also seminars for commuting to work, becoming a bicycle instructor and tips for motorists interactions with cyclists. Learn More

Youth Bicyclist Education

The youth bicyclist education program in the Greater Washington, DC Area is available in DC, Maryland and Virginia. We typically offer in-class lessons for schools or Safe Routes to School programs and also bicycle clinics or "bike rodeos" for special events. Learn More

Special ABCs of Family Biking Class Available in Washington!

Motorist Education

We offer seminars for motorists, particularly fleet drivers such as bus operators or transportation fleets, to learn more about how to safely share the road with bicyclists. Learn More

Safe Routes to School

Walking and biking to school means healthier children and less traffic. DDOT’s Safe Routes to School program helps make it safer, more convenient, and more fun to get to school on foot or by bike.  Learn More

DC Bike Ambassador

The Bike Ambassador program is a collaboration between WABA (Washington Area Bicyclist Association) and DDOT (District Department of Transportation) and is designed to promote safe cycling for fun, fitness and transportation for everyone in DC. Learn More

Pace Car Program

The DC Neighborhood Pace Car Program encourages residents to take responsibility for the impact of their own driving while setting the “pace” for safer streets and neighborhoods. Learn More
