DC Bike Ride Scholarship Information

What are DC Bike Ride Scholarships?

DC Bike Ride is fast becoming one of the region’s premier bike riding events. After receiving helpful feedback from riders and our members, we wanted more people to experience it for themselves. We know that for some people and communities the price is too high, so with your help, we’re creating a way for everyone to chip in and sponsor the registration fees for selected participants.

How does it work?

WABA is working to create a more bike-friendly region, but nothing that big can be done alone. We rely on partner organizations and communities, and the strength of those relationships was a natural starting point to build this program.

WABA has reached out and engaged with groups that largely serve communities and populations who aren’t able to afford DC Bike Ride. Once onboard, these organizations will recruit riders from their own communities, and they’ll be able to register for free thanks to your generosity.

Scholarships will NOT be available to individuals on a case-by-case basis, but only to people currently being served by our partner organizations.

As partner organizations join the program, we’ll list them here, along with the number of riders from each.

If you represent an organization interested in being a partner, please contact us at programs@waba.org.

How will my contribution help?

Your contribution will cover some or all of the registration fee(s) for the 2017 DC Bike Ride. As the scholarship fund increases, WABA and partner organizations will support more riders. Whether you contribute $1 or $48, all of your money will go directly to helping more people enjoy this unique experience.
