Be an Educator

WABA is looking for bike educators. Sign up for our interest list to receive updates about our application process for the next class of WABA instructors.

WABA’s instructors are enthusiastic educators and local bike experts, and we’re all certified to teach by the League of American Bicyclists.

Periodically, WABA recruits and trains a class of 12 to 15 new instructors. We’re looking for good communicators and bike enthusiasts from all walks of life.

About instructor training

You can apply online to be a part of the next class of WABA teachers. Our application is open for a window of 2 months prior to the beginning of the training program.

From the applications, we’ll select 12-15 candidates to be in the next cohort.

Once selected, you’ll take part in online group exercises, a candidate-only Traffic Skills 101 course, and a League Cycling Instructor Certification seminar.

You’ll meet the WABA staff, participate in discussion groups with fellow candidates, and become part of the active transportation community in the Washington area.

After training

Once you’ve completed the program requirements, you’ll earn the WABA instructor rate every time you teach with us.

You’ll contribute to the growth of the community, and improve the experience of bicyclists throughout the region.

Already have your League Certification? Get in touch with us at education@waba.org to teach with our team.
