Events

WABA hosts bike rides and social events throughout the year to bring together the bicycling community. We host fun rides that create a safe and welcoming space for you. WABA’s signature events, which are member-only, paid registration rides, are fundraisers. The money we raise directly supports our advocacy, education, and outreach work. More simply: when you participate in a WABA event, you fuel our efforts to build a more bike-friendly region.

See the event listings below for registration information and details for upcoming events. To learn more about sponsoring a signature event, email business@waba.org. If you’d like to advertise your own event, please click here. For any other event questions, email events@waba.org.

Event Highlights:

WABA in the Wild

June 15-18 and October 5-8
Maryland
WABA Signature Ride

WABA in the Wild, the newest signature ride, is a peer-to-peer fundraiser to support WABA, couched in a quintessential regional bike experience: bicycling the C&O Canal towpath, 184.5 miles, from Cumberland, MD to Georgetown, DC over three-and-a-half days. The C&O Canal towpath is one of the nation’s best long-distance trails—full of nature and history—that you get to enjoy with twenty-some other people that are as crazy about your favorite local bicycle advocacy organization as you are. You’ll experience the best that the canal has to offer, from local eateries in canal towns to getting your questions answered directly by representatives of C&O Canal National Historical Park and Trust. You’ll be able to focus on the ride without worrying about logistics: WABA staff and volunteers are experienced bicycle tour guides who will cook your meals, haul your gear, and set you up with delicious snack breaks along the way.

Cider Ride

November 3
Washington, DC / Prince George’s County, MD
WABA Signature Ride

The Cider Ride is a celebration of the the beautiful bicycling available in our region, and the season that makes the ride that much more enjoyable. Smooth trails, empty roads, beautiful fall colors, hot cider, and donuts make this early November ride one to remember. Riders can choose from 10, 30, and 50 mile routes that highlight bicycling treasures of Prince George’s County: the wonderful trail system along the Anacostia River and its tributaries, rolling hills in Beltsville’s agricultural reserve, and the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. Riders from all over the region turn out en masse for a wonderful ride and post-ride music and cheer.

Registration is open!
