Introducing Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata, & Siegel P.C., a WABA Legal Resource Member

We would like to introduce our newest WABA Partner and Legal Resource Member, the personal injury law firm of Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel P.C., which has served the Washington, D.C., metro area community for over 40 years.

20160919_153555

Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel P.C. are dedicated to helping victims of bicycle and pedestrian accidents. They have extensive experience, including representing bicyclists who have been injured in “clipping,” and “dooring,” accidents, as well as bikers who have been run off the road by negligent drivers, or injured when a motorist made a negligent lane change. If you or any of your fellow cyclists have been injured in a crash, the attorneys from Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel P.C. are available to help evaluate the case.

We are proud to have a Legal Resource Member with such a well-respected and trusted reputation. The active partners of CSCS, Ira Sherman, Joseph Cammarata, and Allan M. Siegel, have over 90 years of combined experience, and are licensed to practice in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. All of the partners have been repeatedly selected for inclusion in the Washington D.C. Super Lawyers® Magazine, which was recently published again in the Washington Post Magazine on April 24, 2106.   The partners have been awarded the highest AV® Rating by Martindale Hubbell®, which ranks attorneys nationwide through discerning criteria. Partners Joseph Cammarata and Allan M. Siegel have also been repeatedly named as Washington, D.C.’s “Top Lawyers” by Washingtonian Magazine. All three partners also served as Past Presidents of the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Partners Joseph Cammarata and Allan Siegel have earned the impressive achievement of Board Certification as Civil Trial Attorneys by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, which is only awarded to 3% of attorneys in the United States.

Bicycle crashes involving an automobile are often some of the most deadly crashes on our roadways. In 2005, the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute found that 92% of bicyclist fatalities were caused by a collision with a motor vehicle. When a crash is not fatal, common injuries that bicyclist may experience include traumatic brain injuries (TBI), crush injuries, facial injuries, neck injuries, paralysis, amputation, and road rash. While many of these injuries can have lifelong debilitating effects, TBI research and the understanding of a TBI’s long-term effects is a quickly evolving area. CSCS Partners Joseph Cammarata and Ira Sherman are the founders and President, and Vice President, respectively, of the Brain Injury Association of Washington, D.C., which is committed to improving the lives of those affected by TBIs.  Ira Sherman is also on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Washington, D.C. Based on this firm’s extensive experience, you can trust them to fight for your rights through every step of your case.

CSCS has a 5 Star ranking on Google and they are proud to have represented many satisfied bicyclist clients. You can read all of their 5 Star reviews here and check out numerous client testimonials here. We are pleased to have Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. joining WABA’s new Legal Resource Program!  You can contact them through their website at chaikinandsherman.com, or by calling them at (202) 659-8600.

Introducing Mad Bomber, a WABA Business Member

WABA’s Business Members understand the importance of a community that bicycles. Their membership supports our advocacy, outreach and education. Our business members are committed to a sustainable future of our region and are adding their voice to a growing number of bicycle-friendly businesses supporting WABA. Today meet Mad Bomber.

The Mad Bomber Company is pleased to join WABA as a Business Member.  As a manufacturer of hats and outerwear products that combine natural resources with innovative high-tech fabrics, we’re also the world’s original and largest Bomber/Aviator hat manufacturer.  Our brand has always been both functional and quirky, appealing to a wide range of tastes and ages – and everyone from hunters to today’s urban customers.

Our hats are a modern take on a style that was standard equipment for military aviators on bitter cold, high-altitude flights and bombing runs.  Our rabbit fur insulation and quilted recycled nylon crown lining create a soft, natural barrier to wind and cold.  We’ve also expanded our line to include Faux Fur, Polar Fleece, Knits, gloves, Polo Shirts, Merino Wool Baselayers… and we recently introduced a line of hats proudly made right here in the USA!

With a distribution network that covers Europe, Asia, Russia, and North and South America, Mad Bomber takes a green approach to product design and manufacturing.  Using recycled and organic cottons and other materials allows us to support farmers near our manufacturing plants who are in touch with their environment.

Our feeling is that there are many heads around the world that need hats – about six billion, the last time we counted.  And although there’s only one Mad bomber Company, we’re ready to meet that demand… one ultra-cool hat at a time.

We’re proud to be a member of WABA – partly because so many of our customers are passionate about their own personal sports… and partly because we just love WABA and its mission.  In fact, our founder and president has been personally involved in matters important to local bicyclists, including serving for a couple of years as a member and Chair of the Fairfax Trails and Sidewalks Committee.

Island Press is thrilled to be one of the many organizations that support WABA’s mission of improving bicycling conditions and transportation options in the DC metro area. Like WABA, we think the only way to affect positive change is through education, hard work, and making direct connections to the community. For over thirty years, Island Press has published groundbreaking works, from solutions-oriented books for working professionals, to books that inform and inspire everyday citizens. Our authors include great urban thinkers and practitioners like Jan Gehl, Peter Calthorpe, Jaime Lerner, and Peter Newman. In Island Press titles like Roads Were Not Built for Cars, author Carlton Reid reveals the pivotal—and largely unrecognized—role that bicyclists played in the development of modern roadways. And in Start-Up City, Gabe Klein describes how he introduced Capital Bikeshare and other people-oriented transportation options to DC while heading DDOT.

As part of our commitment to giving our partners and their membership exclusive access to our books and content, Island Press is proud to offer WABA members a 30% discount on our entire catalog – over 1000 titles from leading experts in the fields of urban design, environmental conservation, and of sustainable urban planning. Our business members are committed to a sustainable future of our region and are adding their voice to a growing number of bicycle-friendly businesses supporting WABA. Today meet Two Wheel Valet.

We’re passionate about making events and venues more bike-friendly.  Whether you’re an event planner looking for a one-time parking solution or an institutional location looking to offer permanent, premium bicycle parking, Two Wheel Valet makes it easy and 100% user friendly.  Offering a bike valet at events, universities, stadiums, and real estate developments has proven to increase bicycle mode share.  Our services are sponsored by event organizers, sponsors, or institutions to make the service free for users.  This helps to incentivize bike travel, reduces the need for pricey parking spaces, and helps promote healthy living.

Our attendants take care of all of the logistics for your two-wheeled guests and tenants.  Security is out highest priority, which gives users peace of mind and breaks down one of the biggest barriers to cycling – fear of theft.  Our electronic check-in system sends a text claim-check ID to users’ phones, making Two Wheel Valet faster and more secure than using clunky locks and cables.

We provide bike valet services for events and venues of all sizes.  Two Wheel valet was founded in 2013 and has operated multiple large-scale valets in the DC area.  We are great for smaller events, too! We regularly provide valet service at events like NoMa Summer Screen, Anacostia River Fest, and the Arlington County Fair.

We recently launched daily valet service for brick-and-mortar locations like real estate developments, universities, and stadiums/arenas.  Many buildings and venues are already offering bike valets, and we expect the trent to gain momentum.  Daily valet also includes mechanic service and has proven to encourage regular cycling. This is a low-cost alternative for organizations looking to ease parking demands, relieve public transit, and offer an alternative to overcrowded roads.

Get in touch with us today for a free consultation. We can’t wait to help your organization become more bike-friendly!
